Leticia’s Birth Story

Hey there my name is Leticia and would like to tell you my birth story. I had a car accident when I was about 9 years old. I was run over 3 times by a car and left for dead. My doctors told me that I would not conceive so no to having kids. It was a long and hard process to come around to as I wanted to be a mum.

I had been with my boyfriend for 3 and 1/2 years when my friend noticed my tummy. She said to me that your due to drop. Your pregnant. I said no I’m not and I had taking 9 pregnancy test that all come back negative. She took me to her doctor who did a pregnancy test, which come back negative,so did a blood test and that come back positive. Whoa! I went for a scan at st George’s and they said I was about 38 weeks to term. I said how weeks in a term and the said you are due within the next 2 weeks. Well that was a real shock. I went home in disbelieve and tried to get my head around it. Well 36 hours later I kept wanting to pee. I hadn’t told my boyfriend yet. I rung mum and dad come around and said don’t you no your girlfriend is in labour?

Well I got to the hospital only to find I was 8cms dilated and couldn’t have any drugs! My waters broke and I was in pain. I held my dads hand as he talked me through it. And the doctor said if I didn’t push he would use forceps. So I pushed and gave birth to a healthy 6 pound 12 ounce baby boy. I was in total shock! So was my boyfriend who stuck by me. I stayed in hospital for a couple of days and in that time family had helped put my sons room together and get clothes, nappies and everything else.

Well that was back in 1997 and now my son will be 16 in October. The other part of the story is that in 2011 I felt my tummie one day and it was hard as a rock. I had taking pregnancy test and been on the depo jab,so didn’t think anything of it. I went to the doctor who said I was about 5 months,so she sent me for a scan.

The lady T st George’s did the scan and said that I was 38 to term. De Ja voi all over again, she could tell me we were having a girl. Well 22 hours later I went into labour and had a healthy baby girl named Kaitlyn. 6 pound 14 ounce.
