This classic choc chip recipe from Tracy at Squoodles will be hit in the school lunches!
½ cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
½ – 1 cup chocolate chips/buttons (white, milk or dark)
1 ¾ cups flour
1 ½ tsp baking powder
Preheat oven to 180oC – grease or line a baking tray
Melt butter in microwave
Using a hand beater or whisk, beat together sugar and egg until thick and pale – approx 1 minute.
Stir in butter and mix well.
Stir in vanilla essence and chocolate chips.
Add flour and baking powder, mixing gently until combined
Take teaspoon lots of the mixture and roll into balls (they do spread a bit on the tray when cooking)
Flatten slightly with a fork
Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until they just start to go brown
Transfer to a rack to cool
