Christmas time is always such a dangerous time of year for me food-wise, as I am sure it is for lots of others. Not only is there the delights of Christmas Meals, eating gifts of chocolate, wine and Christmas cake, but then there is New Years and many many summer BBQs. These all spell bad news for my waistline and thighs! Enter YummyMummy Fitness with their Mini or Big Shape up Programmes!

I elected to take on the Mini Shape Up Programme which is a 6 week healthy eating and exercise programme focused on educating the participant in healthy habits. It is designed to improve your own habits without the need to rely on prepared meals or strict regimes.

You will start by setting a goal, what you want to achieve by the end of the programme. Whether it’s to lose weight, achieve a fitness goal, shed some centimetres or just improve your eating habits. The YummyMummy team will then tailor a programme to help you achieve that goal.

The ball is completely in your court, you dictate how many times a week you want to exercise, the type of exercise you want to do, if you want to follow a meal plan, if you would prefer to count calories or be careful with what you eat. Obviously the more you put into the programme the greater the end results will be.

My goal was to lose 5kg. So I was on a calorie allowance and exercising 5 days a week with a running and strength exercise programme.

I began the 6 weeks of the Mini Shape Up with the YummyMummy 7 Day Detox. This is a clean eating programme designed to reset your body and highlight any intolerances you might have. Unlike any other detox I have heard of before, you do not have to fast. You simply eat clean and natural for 7 days. I lost 1.8kg in those 7 days! Read my review of the detox programme here.

For the following 5 weeks it was getting in the swing of watching my calorie intake and completing the exercises set out for me by Simone (the mastermind behind YummyMummy). I had full meal plans available to me, as I like variety and have a hubby and a four year old that can sometimes be a bit picky I ended up using the meal plan as inspiration. I cooked some of the delicious meal plan meals, some multiple times and made good food choices with lots of veges for other meals.

One of the coolest things about the YummyMummy Programmes are the Facebook Groups. You will be added to the group a few days prior to the start of your programme so that you can start to communicate with the other ladies completing the Shape Up at the same time as you. The Facebook Group is a fantastic support network, you can ask questions, talk about any concerns and just be in an environment with awesome ladies trying to achieve the same kinds of goals as you. They keep you honest and accountable just be being there.

I completed the Basic package, but you can elect to upgrade to a programme with regular trainer check ins and online exercise classes.

The Mini and Big Shape Up Programmes by YummyMummy Fitness are unlike any other fitness programmes that I have come across. The flexibility to set your own goals and parameters is great because if means that absolutely anyone can complete it even the most time poor of us! Many ladies use it as a way to get back in shape after having a baby, and the training team are able to incorporate allowances for that into your personalised regime.

I finished the programme right on Easter weekend and even though I indulged in a few naughty Easter treats, I had the skills to get me back on track with eating healthy and maintaining my exercise. During the 6 weeks I lost 5.2kg and a good few centimetres off each part of my body. Check out my before and after shots…
