While I try to include smoothies all year round when the warmer weather and summer fruits arrive it is definitely more inspiring to create healthy yummy smoothies, they really are the best way to get loads of fruit (and veges) in all at once. Using frozen fruit like blueberries make the smoothies nice and cold without the need to add ice.
This recipe is very adaptable so get experimental to see what other healthy goodies you can slip in unnoticed!
- 1/2 cup Strawberries
- 1/2 cup (frozen) Blueberries
- 1 small ripe banana
- 1/2 cup baby spinach leaves
- 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed (optional but full of omega 3’s!)
- 1 – 2 tablespoons of Avocado (optional)
- 1/2 cup milk or milk alternative
Blend together and enjoy!
There are a ton of different powders available to add to smoothie’s in a range of flavours and with loads of added vitamins, minerals and more. If you are buying for your kids I suggest asking for a sample first because they are not always cheap and there is nothing worse than having your children screwing up their little noses after the first sip when you just spent a lot on buying a whole jar!
